On the 12th of November 2016, the containership “Doris Schepers” salvaged eight crew members of a sailing yacht during a SAR-Operation. The DORIS SCHEPERS has been under her way from Tenerife to Alicante, when an emergency call from a sailing yacht which had fallen into distress due to a broken rudder, reached her. After about two hours, the yacht was in visibility range and was taken alongside. All eight crew members safely went on board the DORIS SCHEPERS and initial treatment was provided by the vessel’s crew. After this SAR (Search And Rescue) mission, the DORIS SCHEPERS continued her voyage to Alicante where all sailors were consigned to the local port authorities on 14th of November 2016 for further care.
